International Service In Brazil
The University Sunrise Rotary Club supports a wide variety of international service projects. In addition to supporting projects through our direct grants program, our club has initiated several World Community Service Projects in Brazil. A recently completed project with our Centennial Twin Club in Joao Pessoa purchased physical therapy equipment for the treatment of physically and mentally disabled children.
At the present time, we are working on a water project for a drought stricken area in the interior of Brazil near Campina Grande.
Our club has completed two projects in the Brazillian Amazon. The first, titled Quintal Verde (Green Garden) in Belem, Brazil, a project to help a home for the destitute and disable elderly become more self-sufficient, has been funded through Rotary International and has completed its three year implementation process.
The second, a project called Casa de Apoio in Porto Velho, Brazil to help equip a residence for cancer patients has been approved by RI for funding. (For pictures and details on these projects, click on the project name or the map.)
