SUMMARY:Program: Allie Renar\, "Afghanistan’s Women: Resisting Gender Ap
artheid Through Education and Empowerment\," June 26\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin the&nbsp\;University Sunrise Rotary Club&nbsp\;for a pro
gram featuring Allie Renar of Sahar Education.\n\n\n\nThe&nbsp\;program wi
ll be presented on Zoom on Thursday morning with the Zoom line opening at
7 a.m.&nbsp\; The formal meeting including the program runs from 7:30-8:30
a.m.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;No registration is required\, and the program is free.\
n\n\n\nThe meeting will be available via Zoom.&nbsp\; Click here to join t
he meeting Thursday morning.&nbsp\; The Zoom line will open shortly after
7 a.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWomen and girls in Afghanistan are facing on
e of the most extreme gender apartheid regimes in modern history\, strippe
d of their rights\, voices\, and economic independence. Education is just
one of many freedoms denied to them. Yet\, even in the face of oppression\
, Afghan women continue to resist. Sahar Education is working to equip the
m with the tools to reclaim their power—emotionally\, intellectually\, a
nd economically. Join us for a discussion on the current crisis\, the resi
lience of Afghan women\, and how we can support their fight for dignity\,
autonomy\, and a future of their own making.\n\n\n\nAllie Renar is the Ope
rations and Finance Manager for Sahar Education.&nbsp\; Allie is dedicated
to advancing women's empowerment through education. As part of Sahar Educ
ation\, she works to support Afghan girls in their fight to learn despite
immense challenges. With a background in operations\, nonprofit work\, and
storytelling\, she brings a deep commitment to gender equity and educatio
n access. She believes that until all girls have the freedom to learn and
shape their futures\, none of us are truly free.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThanks to
Nancy Bolin for help on this program.\n
