 ring former Washington State Secretary of State\, Sam Reed discussing "The
  Future of the Republican Party.\n\n\n\nThe&nbsp\;program will be presente
 d on Zoom on Thursday morning with the Zoom line opening at 7 a.m.&nbsp\; 
 The formal meeting including the program runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m.&nbsp\;&n
 bsp\;No registration is required\, and the program is free.\n\n\n\nThe mee

 a.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSam Reed served as the 14th Secretary of Stat
 e of Washington from 2001 to 2013. Reed is largely considered to be one o
 f the most consequential state-level secretaries of state in American hist
 ory.\n\n\n\nReed received his bachelor's and master's degrees in politica
 l science from Washington State University. He was elected to the office
  of Secretary of State in 2000\, as one of only two Republicans to be ele
 cted to statewide office that year\, after serving as Thurston County au
 ditor.\n\n\n\nReed attended Washington State University\, where he earned
  a bachelor's degree in social studies and master's degree in political sc
 ience.\n\n\n\nA self-described Rockefeller Republican\, in 1969 he\, alo
 ng with other moderate to liberal Republicans Chris Bayley and Daniel J
 . Evans founded the Cascade Conference\, a symposium made up of fellow "M
 ainstream Republicans" where which ultimately evolved into the political a
 dvocacy group\, the Mainstream Republicans of Washington\, who continue t
 o host annual Cascade Conferences to the present day.\n\n\n\nPrior to his 
 service as Secretary of State\, Reed was elected Thurston County Auditor
  five times and served as Washington's Assistant Secretary of State. He w
 as also appointed by Governor Evans onto the Governor's Advisory Council
  on Urban Affairs.\n
