DESCRIPTION:\nJoin the University Sunrise Rotary Club for a program featu
 ring Dr. Rached Bristol of the University of Washington.\n\n\n\nThe&nbsp\;
 program will be presented in person and on Zoom on Thursday morning.&nbsp\
 ; The formal meeting including the program runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m.&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\;No registration is required\, and the program is free.\n\n\n\n\nThe
  in-person meeting will be at the North Seattle Church (2150 N 122nd St\, 
 Seattle). Doors open at 7:00 a.m. and the program begins at 7:30 a.m.\n\n\

 owning achievement of our species--the very thing that separates us from t
 he myriad of other creatures we share a planet with.  And yet\, there is n
 o scientific consensus about exactly how or when our ancient ancestors sta
 rted using language. This lecture will provide an overview of several lea
 ding theories of how language is intertwined with the evolutionary origins
  of homo sapiens.\n\n\n\nDr. Rachel Bristol currently teaches at Universit
 y of Washington. She received her PhD in Cognitive Science from UC San Die
 go. She also has an MA in Linguistics from the University of Delaware and 
 a BA in English from the University of Oregon. She is fascinated by langua
 ge and the way it interlaces with our brains\, our minds\, and our societi
 es.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
