n\nClick here to join the meeting on Zoom.&nbsp\; The line will open short
 ly after 7:00 a.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTree Action is a volunteer-led organiz
ation comprised of Seattlites from all around the city: from South Park to
Shoreline\, Magnolia to Columbia City. They come from many different back
grounds and are united (and rooted!) in protecting Seattle's trees and cli
mate resilience.\n\n\n\nSandy and Julia Shettler are a mother-daughter tea
m with Tree Action Seattle\, which advocates for Seattle's trees at the ne
ighborhood level and at City Hall. \n\n\n\nSandy is a medical social work
er with a background in public health. She focuses on the physical and me
ntal health benefits of living near trees\, and the need to bring these be
nefits to deforested and underserved urban communities. Julia is an elect
rical engineer by training and works in climate tech. She is deeply inter
ested in preserving the natural environment as a common-sense solution to
climate change.\n\n\n\nTree Action Seattle is a collective effort that was
sparked by the City of Seattle's July 2023 approval of the cutting of a l
arge western red cedar. Nicknamed "Luma"\, the Snoqualmie Tribe identifie
d the tree as historic and culturally modified. This singular tree illumi
nated glaring flaws in Seattle's tree code.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThanks to Mike
 Madden for arranging this program.\n
