DESCRIPTION:\nJoin the University Sunrise Rotary Club for a program featu
 ring Todd Myers of the Washington Policy Center.\n\n\n\nThe&nbsp\;program 
 will be presented in person and on Zoom on Thursday morning.&nbsp\; The fo
 rmal meeting including the program runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;N
 o registration is required\, and the program is free.\n\n\n\n\nThe in-pers
 on meeting will be at the Wedgwood Community Church at 8201 30th Ave NE\, 
 Seattle. Doors open at 7:00 a.m. and the program begins at 7:30 a.m.\n\n\n

 ortly after 7:00 a.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTodd Myers\n\n\n\nFrom climate chan
 ge to ocean plastic\, small technologies like smartphones and AI-enabled t
 hermostats are solving problems that have resisted political solutions. Fr
 om Fiji to Ghana and the United States\, environmental innovators are tack
 ling the planet’s biggest problems\, removing millions of pounds of plas
 tic from the ocean and rewarding people from reducing CO2 emissions. Todd 
 will talk about this emerging movement and how you can be part of it.\n\n\
 n\nWith more than two decades in environmental policy\, Todd Myers’s exp
 erience includes work on a range of environmental issues\, including clima
 te policy\, forest health\, old-growth forests\, and salmon recovery. A fo
 rmer member of the executive team at the Washington State Department of Na
 tural Resources\, he is a member of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Counci
 l and is Vice President for Research at the Washington Policy Center\, a p
 ublic policy think tank in Seattle.\n\n\n\nHis writing has appeared in the
 &nbsp\;Wall Street Journal\,&nbsp\;National Review\,&nbsp\;Seattle Times\,
  and&nbsp\;USA Today\, and he has appeared on numerous news networks inclu
 ding CNBC\, Fox News\, the BBC\, and CNN. He served as vice president of t
 he Northwest Association of Biomedical Research and received their Disting
 uished Service Award in 2018 for his support of bioscience. He has also se
 rved as president of the Prescription Drug Assistance Foundation\, a nonpr
 ofit providing medicines to low-income patients.\n\n\n\nIn 2021\, Myers se
 rved as president of his local beekeeping club in his quest to build an ar
 my of stinging insects at his command. He has a bachelor’s degree in pol
 itics from Whitman College and a master’s degree in Russian/Internationa
 l Studies from the Jackson School of International Studies at the Universi
 ty of Washington. He and his wife Maria live in the Cascade Mountains in W
 ashington state with 200\,000 honeybees\, and he claims to make an amazing
  pasta carbonara and an incredible dirty vodka martini with blue-cheese-st
 uffed olives.\n
