Grants

Grants

University Sunrise Rotary Members regularly look for ways to contribute meaningfully to our community, locally and internationally. For example, our 2014 spring fundraiser generated $20,000 for the University District Food Bank’s “Packs for Kids” program. We also develop projects to serve communities around the globe. Past international efforts have included helping to equip a residence for cancer patients in Porto Velho, Brazil and providing therapy equipment for the children of the special needs center, with the Rotary Club of João Pessoa, Brazil.

Youth Leadership Development

Youth Leadership Development

University Sunrise Rotary supports the development of future leaders. One example is our sponsorship of the Rotaract Club at University of Washington. UW Rotaract gives its members the opportunity to develop leadership skills in their own club and at the district, regional and even international levels. Members also perform meaningful public service activities and interact with multiple Rotary clubs in our area..

We also sponsor visiting international exchange students and sponsor local students’ attendance at Rotary Youth Leadership conferences.

Community Service

Community Service

Our community service activities include conducting food drives for University District Food Bank, providing holiday lighting to families in need, collecting books for distribution in developing countries, supporting distribution of food to local food banks, distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders in local schools, holding an annual block party for the residents of a Solid Ground housing program, gathering supplies for Urban Rest Stop and many more.

If you would like to be involved with or contribute to efforts like these, get in touch with us or join us for breakfast on Thursday mornings at 7:15, at Ivar’s Salmon House.
