The University Sunrise Rotary Service Foundation
Since 1987, we have had our own foundation, the University Sunrise Rotary Service Foundation, which has its own board of directors, but operates in harmony with our Club.

There are many benefits to having the Foundation. The most obvious is local control, which cuts down approval time and allows the board to determine who and where the funds are distributed. The Foundation is an IRS 501(c) 3 charity, which means donations can be tax deductible.
The Foundation is managed by a board of directors, yet all members of the club are members of the foundation and have voting rights.
The Foundation has a history of assisting both local causes and international causes. And working with other club foundations, we have participated in some pretty large projects.
The Foundation receives its funds through fundraisers, the most prominent now being The Big Taste, held annually. The same applies to the annual President’s Dinner and Auction. Individual gifting is encouraged, as well as gifts from estates.
At the bottom of this page, you can find the report by the Board of Directors of the Foundation to the University Sunrise Rotary Club membership on January 8, 2026. The program was presented by the Board of the Foundation along with members of the Screening Committee. Board members are Tom Ranken (Chair), Stuart Webber (Treasurer/Secretary), Pam Mushen, Dave Mushen, and Lincoln Ferris. Screening Committee Members are Mike Madden, Nancy Bolin, and Hal Beals.
