Women and girls in Afghanistan are facing one of the most extreme gender apartheid regimes in modern history, stripped of their rights, voices, and economic independence. Education is just one of many freedoms denied to them. Yet, even in the face of oppression, Afghan women continue to resist. Sahar Education is working to equip them with the tools to reclaim their power—emotionally, intellectually, and economically. Join us for a discussion on the current crisis, the resilience of Afghan women, and how we can support their fight for dignity, autonomy, and a future of their own making.
Allie Renar is the Operations and Finance Manager for Sahar Education. Allie is dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment through education. As part of Sahar Education, she works to support Afghan girls in their fight to learn despite immense challenges. With a background in operations, nonprofit work, and storytelling, she brings a deep commitment to gender equity and education access. She believes that until all girls have the freedom to learn and shape their futures, none of us are truly free.
