An Introduction to the Healing Center:  Why free grief support is so necessary in our community

Kim Kelly (left) has a background in advertising and marketing. Having lost her own mother at the age of six, Kim understands the importance of the Center’s mission to support grieving families. She is our current Board President and a former volunteer facilitator for Children Grieve, Too as well as The Healing Center’s Kid’s Groups.

Sonja Whitaker, MS, LMFT, (right) is Center Director of The Healing Center. Sonja has lived in Seattle (almost) all her life, so rain and moss are in her DNA. She grew up in a family business, has worked in non-profits and higher ed, and finally landed in the field of mental health. The roles of wife, mom, daughter, and friend are the most important parts of her life, but the process of becoming a licensed therapist has been intensely meaningful.
