Join the University Sunrise Rotary Club for a program featuring former US Attorney John McKay.

The program will be presented on Zoom on Thursday morning with the Zoom line opening at 7 a.m.  The formal meeting including the program runs from 7:30-8:30 a.m.  No registration is required, and the program is free.

Former United States Attorney John McKay, who served from 2001 to 2007 before being fired in a pre-Trumpian purge, explains the critical importance of independent, non-partisan federal law enforcement and why this matters today for all of us.

John McKay is a Pro Bono Lawyer with Northwest Justice Project where he partners with a women’s shelter in southwest Washington and represents low-income tenants facing eviction. A former U.S. Attorney in Seattle, he has taught Constitutional Law, National Security Law and other courses at Seattle University Law School where he serves on the faculty as Professor from Practice. From 1997-2001 he was national President of the Legal Services Corporation and held positions on the ABA Board of
Governors and as President of the King County Bar Association. During 2013-2015, he led the U.S. State Department rule of law project in Ramallah, Palestine where he advised prosecution, police, and security services and provided human rights training. A graduate of the University of Washington, he earned his J.D. at Creighton University.
